Bomb explosion has hit the National Police Force Headquarters of Nigeria on Thursday morning. The level of casualties remain unknown as the actual cause of the incident believed to have taken place within the Louis Edet House remains sketchy. This is the second major blast in the city, less than a year following the devastating twin blasts of October 1st last year which left over 20 dead.

According to NEXT, the explosion took place less than a mile away from the federal secretariat and National Assembly. Heavy smoke has enveloped the entire area, but the Anti Bomb squad and civil defence took less than ten minutes to respond to the scene and cordon the perimeter. Ambulances have also rushed to the scene.
"We are evacuating the dead bodies, it is too early for us to judge how many," Red Cross spokesman tells Reuters.
