Museveni Bribing local councils with bicycles

    The incumbent , President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is bribing local council chiefs with bicycles in order to win their support come February 18th 2011 . The presidential race which attracted eight candidates including a lady Beti Namisango Turwomwe Kamya has proven to be a very stiff one for NRM the ruling party and the incumbent is ready to do all it takes to win it.
    A Shs8 billion government project to provide each of the 70,000 LC1 chairpersons with a bicycle was on Friday signed by Mr John Kashaka, the permanent secretary ministry of Local government. This scheme has been widely criticized as the highest level of bribery during in the presidential campaigns and the opposition is planning to petition court if the scheme is not abandoned or postponed to avoid confusion during this time.
    It has been argued that the incumbent is abusing state resources for his personal interests and to gain favor among the country men after such along time of unpopularity within the country. Its however worth noting that the situation in Uganda is alarming more so at such a time when we are headed for elections on February 18th next year and needs attention from the international community. If nothing much is done to avert the direction of things in this country, It will be too late to institute a postmortem yet Ugandans long for a change in leadership.
