Morocco, sign agreement in export promotion


  1. Morocco and the International Trade Center (ITC) signed, a cooperation agreement, according to the Moroccan news agency MAP, the deal aims to implement the "Enhancing Arab Capacity for Trade" (ENACT) Programme in Morocco.

    The project supports the competitiveness of Moroccan products internationally. Part of the technical assistance will be to improve the required infrastructure for standardization, to contribute to the improvement of export strategies, and the introduction of quality management systems at the enterprise level. The $ 8.4 million programme will allocate $ 1.6 million to Morocco.

    ENACT is a regional programme of technical assistance funded by the Canadian International Development Agency and implemented by ITC, a joint agency of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the United Nations.

    ENACT programme aims to generate new trading opportunities among developing countries and economies in transition, assist those countries and transition economies to achieve sustainable human development through exports.

    Additionally, the program offers, training in trade information management and strengthens competitiveness and the capacity to increase export potential. It also promotes national and regional trade information networks, provides coaching in export strategy development, and helps enterprises participate in trade fairs.

    ENACT benefits other Arabic country mainly Jordan, Egypt, Tunisia and Algeria.

    The International Trade Centre is the technical cooperation agency of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the World Trade Organization (WTO) for operational and enterprise-oriented aspects of international trade development. As the United Nations focal point for technical cooperation in trade promotion, ITC works with developing countries and economies in transition to set up effective trade promotion programmes to expand their exports and improve their import operations.
