MTN to provide IT for FIFA U-17

    To ensure a reliable and enhanced digital solution during the FIFA U- 17 world cup to be hosted by Nigeria, MTN Nigeria has been selected to supply all IT related requirement for the championship.

    MTN will provide an ultra high speed network between eight stadia where the games will be played. The telecom company will also provide high speed internet connectivity and voice communication facilities. The facilities will enable real time, world-wide broadcast of the games which will be viewed by an estimated 1billion people.

    “We are delighted to be part of this historic partnership. Our role will be to provide excellent communication support to DAAR Communication to ensure efficient coverage of the tournament,” says Wale Goodluck, MTN’s Corporate Service Executive. Goodluck says MTN has the capacity to play the role effectively.

    “This is a milestone for MTN business and a strong confirmation of our capability to provide resilient and scalable cutting edge Information Communication Technology solutions to the Nigerian business community….we are indeed happy to partner with DAAR Communications for the coverage of this important tournament,” says Derek Appiah, MTN’s Chief Enterprise Solutions Officer.

    DAAR Communication PLC, the media host organization says MTN was selected in a rigorous process because it cannot afford to mess up the championship. “We have chosen MTN to partner with us on this very important deal, we believe MTN has the requisite infrastructure and experience to deliver a world class telecommunication and network service for the FIFA tournament,” says Aliero Dopkesi, Chairman DAAR Communication PLC.

    The FIFA U-17 world cup kicks off in Nigeria on October 24 to November 15.
