Liberia hosts Chinese Supreme Court lords

    The Liberian leader, Johnson Sirleaf, has received justices of the Supreme Court of China at the temporary seat of government in Monrovia.

    Madam Sirleaf recounted China’s quest to help rebuild war ravaged Liberia. She also reassured Liberia’s commitment to the one China policy. The president “lauded the government of China for its continuous support to Liberia’s reconstruction, stressing the need to further strengthen Sino-Liberia relations,” a release from the seat of government said.

    The release said the People’s Republic of China Supreme Court Justices were accompanied by the Chief Justice of the Liberia Supreme Court, Johnnie Lewis, along with his Associate Justices.

    China’s Supreme Court Vice President, His Honor Su Zelin, recounted the long standing ties between both countries. He also praised the Liberian government and the people for their concern over recent disaster which occurred in China leading to the death of hundreds of Chinese citizens.

    The Chinese have continued to help in many areas including the training of security personnel, health, infrastructure rehabilitation among others since the coming into office of the Sirleaf administration.
