Speaking to the local press in Monrovia, LFA spokesperson and press officer Henry Flomo said that the interviews would be held online with the shortlisted applicants.

“Bishop Allan Klayee, who heads the committee, has assured Liberians at home and abroad that by next weekend a national head coach will be named from the five short-listed individuals,” Flomo said.

This means that a long call by Liberians to have a foreign coach to head their Lone Star could be answered.

The LFA closed its vacancy for the job of a national coach as well as U-20 and U-17 teams on April 17, 2010. The process accumulated 61 applications, of which the five short-listed names were drawn.

According to the press officer, the Bishop Klayee-led team also shortlisted four names, all Liberians, for the position of deputy coach of the national team. They are Boniface Doe, Darlington Boye, Sr., Vava George and Frank Nagbe.

The Liberia national team enters competitive action early September of this year. The team has lacked a head coach since the departure of Germany coach Antoine Hey.
