Kenya will strengthen it ties on bio-diesel production technology and agricultural sector with Brazil. Speaking along side visiting Brazilian President Lula Da Silva, President Kibaki said Kenya was keen on making use of the advances made by Brazil in the area of bio-diesel technology.
President Kibaki said closer cooperation with Brazil will put Kenya in a position of seeking efficient ways of managing the energy sector. Kibaki said Brazil can contribute to the transfer of technology mainly in the agriculture sector. He said the fact Brazil is leading nation in the production of bio-diesel make them an ideal partner. Brazil is the leading world ethanol exporter.
“Brazil is a leading nation in this technology and as country we want to make use of this relationship,” said Kibaki.
On his part, the Brazilian President Lula Da Silva acknowledged that Kenya has adequate raw materials to meet local consumption and even produce surplus for export. He said Brazil has the technology and years of expertise but Kenya has a lot of land that will produce the fuel which it will sell to rich countries. He added that Brazil hopes that Kenya will be an investment hub for Brazilian companies and entrepreneurs to tap in the wider East African Community which has a population of more than 125 million.
It was not only business but also sports and football. President Kibaki said that his discussion with the Brazilian President on how to work with the people and the government of Brazil on how to improve sports with Brazil hosting the world cup in 2014.
“ We have discussed ways Kenya can partner with Brazil to ensure that our country is adequately prepared to enable it feature in what I believe will be a great tournament in a country known for its sporting prowess Kibaki said.
Perharps a joke at too far, the Brazil in apparent mock said “ I hope your nation will undertake through preparations and ensure they make to the world cup wishing that Kenya and Brazil will face each other in the final,” .
