~In the deal which was brokered by the former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan and AU Chairman and President of Tanzania Jakaya Kikwete, the two leaders are expected to work under a grand coalition which provides for the office of an executive Prime minister and two deputies and both party will share 50-50 all ministerial positions.
In the deal Raila Odinga will be the Prime minister to supervise, coordinate and execute all government duties while President Kibaki will remain the head of State. Kenyans have welcomed the move which is expected to end months of post-election conflict which has left over 1000 people dead and more than 350,000 displaced.
The deal will also see Kenya go the parliamentary way of government with parliament wielding much authority. Raila Odinga has also vowed to work with President Kibaki for the first time since the Dec 27 disputed elections which Raila accused Kibaki of stealing. If the power-sharing deal holds, it will be the second time Kenya is having a Prime minister since attaining independence from the British in 1964.
