The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) have warned Kisumu residents and political leaders over hate speeches that can fuel violence in the country ahead of the forthcoming General Election. Commissioner Dr Ahmed Yassin said it was a high time that Kenyans especially the youth who are the majority to shun from preaching tribal and hate speech that has seen the emergence of various illegal gangs across the country.

"Youths should be wary of leaders who swayed them to fight the political wars by voting them out come March 4, 2012," Commissioner Yassin said.
Speaking during the Kisumu Youth Peace meeting, the commissioner said that the NCIC is working hand in hand with National security agent to ensure that peace prevail during and after the general election.
He stated that those involved in criminal activities shall be brought to book and the government will ensure to deal with them firmly as promised by President Mwai Kibaki.
The emergence of the illegal groups in the country is worrying nationally especially the residents of Mombasa, Kisumu and Tana River among others urging all stakeholders to work closely for unity of the country.
He further urged the youth to take responsibility of solving conflict and peace building initiative across the country by ensuring " Talk of Kenya Kwanza Campaign Value prevail up to the grassroots level.
"We want to see Kisumu a City of Peace that accommodate everybody. With security and peace available more investors will be attracted thereby providing job opportunity to the youth in Kisumu and its vicinity," Yassin said.
The same sentiments were also echoed by Commissioner Millie Lwanga who challenged Kisumu youths to unite and invest their energy in a productive manner rather than depending on leaders who have their own vested interest.
Lwanga further challenge youths that, as they fight for the right the should not forget their responsibility in bridging peace countrywide by using the number as the majority.
She added that government will not tolerate illegal gangs in the country and challenge security agents in Kisumu to find an amicable solution to insecurity raised by the residents.
