The KIWASCO Customer Care, Franklin Ochieng' who led the team to the stations said police owed the company a total of Ksh 5 million which has accrued for the lat 10 months.
Ochieng' further said that police station and mess have to be disconnected to force for the payment. Some of the affected stations include Kisumu Central ,Kondele, Mamboleo, Obunga,Railways,Nyalenda, Police Training Centres and police mess.
According to KIWASCO,police have been promising the company several time that they will clear the water bill but all has been in vain anytime the seek for payment.
"The last water bill payment received by the company was made in December 2011," said Ochieng adding that they have been forced to disconnect the water supply in order to cut further accruing of the bill.
The company further vowed that they will only connect water to police stations after the government shall have cleared the pending bill.
"We have made several efforts talking to Officer Commanding Police Division, Musa Kongoli, Officer Commanding Stations and Nyanza Provincial Police Officer (PPO), Joseph Oletito who have only been making empty promises to settle the bill," said Ochieng'.
However, the PPO pleaded with the company not disconnect water in police station promising that the government will settle the bill by the end of this month but all proofed futile since several attempts have been made by the said company to get the money.
Oletito also told the KIWASCO team that he was going to raise the matter to Nyanza Provincial Commissioner, Francis Mutie to speed up the settlement of the debt saying disconnection will hugely paralyses police operations in the region.
The police boss revealed that police have not receive funds from the Office of the President (OP) saying that they are doing all it take to find an amicable solution over the matter.
