KENYA: CHALLENGES WORLD LEADERS TO SEND PEACE KEEPERS TO ZIM

    Prime Minister Raila Odinga, has described President Robert Mugabe's presidency as " an eyesore on the African continent" and stepped up demands for world leaders to pressure for his resignation.

    Odinga also called for Peacekeepers to be sent to the capital Harare to ensure that Free and Fair elections are conducted there.

    According to a press statement sent in by his press service Raila posed at a gathering in the United States,"Do we have conditions for free and fair elections in Zimbabwe at the moment? The answer is no, you don't."

    "It's already been pre-rigged," Odinga said, citing beatings and arrests, arson, the repeated detention of Mr Tsvangirai and more than 100,000 soldiers already casting ballots under the watchful eyes of police.

    "It would be best for the international community to insist for Mugabe to step down, and send an international peacekeeping force," he said.

    Odinga criticised fellow African leaders for failing to speak out against the violence plaguing Zimbabwe ahead of the presidential polls.

    "Zimbabwe is an eyesore on the African continent ... an example of how not to do it. I'm sad that so many heads of state in Africa have remained quiet when disaster is looming in Zimbabwe," Odinga said.

    By the time of going to Press Zimbabwe's state television had announced it will not air any reports of campaigns by the opposition citing deceit and misleading statements.
