KENYAN AUTHORITIES ARREST MAN SUSPECTED TO BE KABUGA

    REPRESENTATIVES of the Rwandan Genocide tribunal sitting in Arusha have been dispatched to Nairobi to authenticate the identity of a man in Kenyan custody since Wednesday night who is suspected to be runaway fugitive Felicien Kabuga.

    Police sources Thursday evening have confirmed that they were awaiting the arrival of the representatives to verify that a man "we arrested in Nairobi last night is Kabuga or not."

    This is not the first time police in Nairobi have come close to nabbing the alleged mastermind of the 1994 Rwanda genocide, in November 2004, he was arrested and locked up at Kilimani police Station before he was released on what was then described as high level intervention.

    Different high command policemen gave conflicting reports to journalists, at first they all seemed agreed that they had nabbed the man on the world's most wanted list of criminals, but later they were sharply divided with some saying the man they have in custody is indeed Kabuga and others saying he was not.

    Police have been on the trail of the arrested man for the last four days we established.

    Television footage however showed a different man from Kabuga. Police pledged to show the man under arrest to the media Sunday morning.

    Ironically, he spends the night at Kilimani police Station in Nairobi.
