I'll retire at 50 - Ghana captain Appiah

    The captain of the Black Stars Stephen Appiah said he is not ready to retire from active football until he is 50 years. The Bologna midfielder has turned deaf ears to home pressure to give up on national duties due to poor form but the veteran insists he is fit to set a new retirement record in football.

    “There are a lot of wonders in the world,” the Bologna midfielder said to Adom FM.

    “Ten years back, I thought at age 32 one should retire but in football nowadays players quit at 36 and 38 years. It all depends on how you manage yourself and when Paolo Maldini was 41 he was playing better than those at 25,” Appiah argued.

    “People ask me when I will retire but I tell them I will play until I’m 50 years old.”

    Appiah has taken the four-time African champions to two World Cups in 2006 and 2010.
