ICT firms must benefit from recession

    Information and Communication Technology (ICT) businesses in Africa have been urged to seize opportunities that come along as a result of the economic recession currently wreaking havoc the world over.

    Addressing hundreds of business leaders at the World Tour Conference at Gallagher in Johannesburg on Tuesday, SAP Vice President for Product Strategy, Jeff Word, said the emerging and established companies should adopt new survival strategies that would enable them to thrive in these uncertain times.

    “They should bear in mind that in every crisis there are opportunities, so they should take advantage of the situation. If they can not see what is happening in their business, they can not make any good decisions,” said Word in an itnewsafrica.com report.

    He outlined six priorities that he believes would spare the emerging and established businesses from collapse arguing that through proper management see transformation taking shape.

    Word highlighted the need to have cash management, operational excellence and capture activities, drive superior customer value, need to build for credible sustainability and return and enable talent at the company in order to blossom.

    “Keeping the best talent and making them successful is fundamental to survive the downturn and prepare for the upturn,” he said. Word made presentations on how to “Survive and Thrive in uncertain times”.
