Hillary Clinton visits seven African nations

    US Secretary of State, Hilary Rodham Clinton, next month embarks on a seven-nation tour of Africa to include the continent's oldest independent nation, Liberia. Clinton's trip begins 5 August in Nairobi, Kenya at the 8th Sub-Saharan Africa Trade and Economic Cooperation Forum, known as the AGOA Forum.

    The Secretary of State also visits South Africa, Angola, DR Congo, Nigeria and Cape Verde. The trip of Africa highlights President Barack Obama administration’s commitment to making Africa a priority in US foreign policy.

    Clinton’s trip comes a few weeks following president Obama’s visit to Ghana. A government source in Monrovia said the US iconic Secretary will visit the country on August 13 as guest of the Liberian government.

    Clinton would be the first high profile American government official to visit the country since former US president George Bush came to the country last year, just at the close of his tenure of office.
