During the earthquake, Mr. Bah was in the building of MINUSTAH since then his family and friends have tried several ways to contact him on his telephone and other means of communication.

Mr. Bah is from Dinguiraye but was born in 1965 in Congo (Brazzaville, Moungali); he was sent early in France to pursue his secondary and higher education.

After his brilliant law school, he worked at Arthur Anderson as auditor. Subsequently, he was successively a young journalist in Jeune Afrique, BBC reporter, spokesperson for MONUC (the United Nations for Congo).
Finally, the Spokesman of the MINUSTAH (UN Mission for the Stabilization of Haiti) and close collaborator of Luiz Costa Da Silva, the Deputy Chief Representative of the Secretary General of the UN, number 2 of the Mission.

The death of Mr. Mamadou Bah is an immense loss to the nation of Guinea. Guineans have lost a great son, a man of integrity and competence, loved by all his colleagues and relatives. Mr. Bah was the embodiment of kindness, gentleness and unfailing lucidity.

As Mr. Patrick Weil, President of Libraries sans Frontières "Mamadou Bah was intelligent and modest, quick, steady, efficient and discreet. He was animated by the spirit of justice. The UN and the Haitian people lost a great servant and OSB a dear friend. Our thoughts are with his wife and his son, his family and loved ones. "
"... The General Assembly of Libraries Sans Frontières, on February 19 next, will be devoted to the question of the effort to lead toward Haiti in the coming months. A special homage will be made to Mamadou Bah, whose name will be given at the headquarters of Libraries Sans Frontières in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, "he said.
In addition to Mr. Bah, many other Guinean policemen working for peacekeeping in Haiti have lost their lives.
