HP TO PARTNER WITH CU ON ICT

    Hewlett-Packard (Hp) West Africa has expresses it desire to partner with Covenant University in the area of Information Communication Technology, business and manpower development.

    The desire was made known by the Managing Director of the company, Mr. Ime Umo during a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor and some principal officer of the university recently.

    Mr. Umo also uses the occasion to furnish the management team with the structure of his organization which includes Technology System Group, Imaging Printing Group, Hp Services, Consulting and Integration and Step B Initiatives.

    He however revealed the plan of the company to introduce the step B Initiative to the university which according to him is an avenue through which the organization gives back to higher institutions to boost their ICT programmes.

    He stated that some other universities in the country have benefited from the initiative with donation of over 100,000 Dollars in cash and equipment.

    The MD also revealed that the company will organize a workshop to train the university’s technical manpower on the repair of ICT equipment and also put in place a pro-active support by having a residence engineer on ground to repair damaged equipment.

    All these according him were to associate with the university to add value and join in the running of the vision to raising a new generation of leaders.

    While responding, the Vice Chancellor Professor Aize Obayan stated that university has put in place a robust ICT System for staff and student but this can not be achieve without having the support of a world class ICT company.

    The VC will also want the partnership to go beyond business and extends to teaching, research and community development which are the main core value for university establishment.

    She said, “I will to see how the university and Hp can collaborate in the area of teaching, research and community development which are the main core value for university’s establishment”
