    Full profile below:

    Full Name: Didier Drogba
    Nationality: Ivorian
    Date of Birth: 11/ 03/1978
    Position: Striker
    Current club: Chelsea FC (England)

Didier Drogba began his football career in France at a young age but came into the limelight during the 2002-03 season when he realised 17 goals in 34 appearances for French Ligue 1 side Guingamp.

Olympique Marseille picked up the rising talent in 2003, savouring his 19 goals across the season and his contributions which saw the club through to the 2004 UEFA Cup final. The curly-headed Ivorian was snaffled by Chelsea that summer, and he has diligently built for himself a reputation as one of the greatest players in recent times to have played at Stamford Bridge.

Although, Drogba’s 2008-09 season at the London club started with hampering injuries, the prolific scorer bounced back in the middle of the season to shake the Premier League, scoring nine goals in all competitions and five goals in the European Champions League, in which the Blues bitterly crashed out at the semi-final stage against eventual champions Barcelona.

Drogba’s international engagements with Ivory Coast in 2009 were satisfying, having successfully captained the Elephants during their World Cup/AFCON qualifying campaigns. His equalizer against Malawi in October 2009 booked Ivory Coast’s ticket for South Africa 2010.

Besides being an awesome footballer, Drogba was a source of inspiration to a number of youngsters across Africa in 2009. An ultimate coronation as the Glo-CAF Player of the Year 2009 would be well deserved.
