Ghana picked to research on IT related health

    The Ghana Telecom University College (GTUC) has been selected by the Danish government to embark on research into mobile health and other related matters on users at the West African nation's capital in Accra.

    Dr Osei K. Darkwa, President of GTUC said current trend in information technology expansion has called for massive use of telecommunication gadgets worldwide hence the need for Africa to look into the health problems they pose.

    According to the GNA, Dr. Darkwa said the university is on the verge of becoming the best Information and Communication Technology (ICT) institution in sub-Saharan Africa and appealed for government support through Ghana’s Education Trust Fund to facilitate completion of new lecture halls, an administrative block, cafeteria and ICT centre to enable it admit more students.

    Mr Thomas Henaku, Chairman of GTUCLA said members had resolved to achieve the set goals of the institution.

    He said the association aims at bringing the concerns and welfare of members on board for redress and also help develop the university community as well as bridge the communication gap between the lecturers and the authorities.
