Ghana name squad against Sudan

The assistant coach for the Black Stars of Ghana, Kwesi Appiah, who will be in charge of their next Nations Cup qualifying game against Sudan, has invited two new comers in his 20-man squad.
    Andre Dede Ayew
The new kids on the block include; left-back Seth Owusu of local side Kessben FC and Emmanuel Clottey of Berekum Chelsea, also in the Ghana premier division.

The 20-man Ghanaian team will challenge Sudan on Sunday, October 10 in their Orange AFCON 2012 qualifier at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra, Ghana.

However, some interesting absentees in the Ghanaian line up include; Chelsea offensive midfielder, Michael Essien and Inter Milan’s forward, Sulley Muntari.

Clottey, top scorer in the Ghanaian football premier league three seasons ago, has resurfaced this season after serving a season’s deferral for reprehensible registration. Captain John Mensah has been called up after missing the opener against Swaziland earlier this month due to injury.

The clash will be the second meeting between the two sides in less than two years after the Black Stars beat the Desert Hawks 2-0 at the same venue during the qualifiers for the 2010 AFCON and World Cup in Angola and South Africa respectively.

Congo and Swaziland will clash in the other Group I encounter in Brazzaville.

    The full squad:
Goalkeepers: Richard Kingson (Blackpool, England), Isaac Amoako (Asante Kotoko, Ghana)

Defenders: John Paintsil (Fulham, England) Samuel Inkoom (Basel, Switzerland) Hans Adu-Sarpei (Schalke 04, Germany), Lee Addy (Red Star Belgrade, Serbia) Jonathan Mensah (Granada, Spain) Isaac Vorsah (Hoffenheim, Germany) John Mensah (Sunderland, England) Seth Owusu (Kessben FC, Ghana)

Midfielders: Anthony Annan (Rosenborg, Norway), Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu (Udinese, Italy), Kwadwo Asamoah (Udinese, Italy) Andre Ayew (Marseille, France) Kevin-Prince Boateng (AC Milan, Italy) Bernard Kumordzi (Panionios FC, Greece)

Attackers: Asamoah Gyan (Sunderland, England), Emmanuel Clottey (Berekum Chelsea, Ghana) Prince Tagoe (Hoffenheim, Germany) Jordan 'Dede' Ayew (Marseille, France)
