Ghana hosts a one week North-West Africa under 13 Pepsi Cricket Championships in the capital, Accra. Among the competing countries are Cameroon, Gambia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and the host Ghana and conspicuously missing from the tournament was Mali and Morocco who pulled out at the eleventh hour.

The basic were drawn from the basic schools in their various countries with the aim of inculcating cricket into their curriculum.
The Secretary General of Ghana Cricket Council Joshua Mensah, was grateful for the leadership of the Ghana cricket leadership of putting everything in place for better championship.
According to him the Local Organizing Committee are doing this without any funding from the International Cricket Council and the government hence the amount are from the coffers of their own local leadership.
“Earlier last year we requested for two budget funds from the government for both the under 19 and 17 Tournament in South Africa and Kenya respectively, and since there are other pogrammes line up we would not bother the state” he said.
He was optimistic that they would win the championship especially that Sierra Leone lost their first game, but was quick to add that Gambians would give Ghana a good match.
Ghana beat Cameron in opening game with 221 runs in 20 overs, whereas Cameron got 54 runs in 20 overs. Gambia batted first with 85 runs in 20 overs all out, beating Sierra Leone with 69 runs all out in 20 overs.
