Ghana: Bank praises local environment

    International media who stormed Ghana for last month's 26th MTN African Cup of Nations, were introduced last Friday to the newly installed Intercontinental Bank Ghana. The wanted them to discover its modus operandi and how the bank was faring in Ghana.

    For many years Intercontinental Bank has been one of the origins of promoting sports in where they operate especially in Nigeria.

    In a welcome address the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Bank, Mr. Albert Mwega acknowledged the kind of support that they have been receiving in Ghana from both the public and government. “This place is a conducive arena for business and I encourage any meaningful investor to come in as well”.

    According to the Albert Mwega, the Bank has been associated with sports especially in Nigeria, where they are known of supporting the Super Eagles, Flying Eagles. Even in Ghana 2008 we are sponsors of the Super Eagles, therefore we have long history in sports sponsorship.

    “Likewise in Ghana we have made a handsome donation to the to the successful staging of the 26th MTN African Cup of Nations. Hence we are still copying our parent Bank in Nigeria”.

    Touching on the workforce the Director said they have the crème de la crème of staff who are committed in their various sectors, friendly and welcomes everyone without frown.

    Adding their mantra is “happy customer happy bank” and whenever their customers are happy they become happy in return.

    He said before the year ends the management have in mind of opening other branches in Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast, Guinea, Senegal, and Equitorial Guinea. In addition they would open other branches in Dubai, China, America like what they want to do in Africa.

    He said their bank is a universal and they are hoping to spread across the continent to give a fair share to every customer under the earth.

    The Director also said one of the ways in their social service activities to offer scholarships to young students to further their course. He said they have a programme dubbed Intercontinental Diamond Fund that help gives scholarships to young ones.

    “In Ghana we have projects that are geared towards education and if one expects loan that is not forthcoming you can count on ICB” he said.
    On the re-denomination of the Ghana old currency, Albert Mwega said ICB has no problem since their systems was changed before the Central Bank of Ghana commenced with the re-denomination activities.
