Gambia's Transitional Council Launched in Dakar

    The Gambia National Transitional Council 'GNTC' was on Thursday in Launched in the Senegalese Capital Dakar, the initiative is said to be a Franco-Gambian opposition that is intended to end the regime of President Yahya Jammeh.

    Speaking at a press conference in Dakar, Sheikh Sidia Bayo who identified himself as the coordinator of the group said the transitional council will be a composition of 35 members.

    '' Our destination is Banjul, but we will pass through Kanilai to capture Yahya Jammeh. Jammeh will fall through military intervention that requires the involvement of all Gambians,'' said Mr. Bayo, during a press briefing.

    Bayo further stated that GNTC is currently campaigning for international recognition, Gambian authorities to disassociate them from President Jammeh.

    '' The GNTC calls on all political and military leaders of the Gambia to disown President Yahya Jammeh, in response to the call for him to be charge crimes humanity
    and extrajudicial executions. If they agree to the perpetrated by Jammeh they will be considered accomplices,'' said Mr. Bayo.

    According to him, Jammeh can no longer represent the Gambian people for many reasons, including the genocide that his regime persistently committed for 18 years and is at its peak.


    The recent execution of nine death row prisoners has triggered international called for president Jammeh to halt the executions and drop capital punishment. But the Jammeh argued that the executions where legal and is in conformity with the Gambian constitution.
    President has over the years being criticized for gross human rights violations characterize by arrest, extra judicial killing and disappearances of his opponent and critics.
