At half-time the Gambia had doubled their tally, but Algeria had claimed a goal back through a penalty to make it 2-1, BBC news reported on its website. In the second half Gambia extended their lead and claimed the title 3-1.

Ebrima Bojang scored twice for Gambia and their other goal came from Alasana Camara. It is the second time they have won the tournament, after they triumphed at home in 2005 the team then went on to the Under-17 World Cup and beat Brazil, the report said.
