Gambia: World Bank MD arrives

    The World Bank Managing Director Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is in Banjul to meet with key government officials. Her visit is meant to deepen the Bank's good relationship with The Gambia's leadership.

    According to press statement issued by the World Bank’s Communication Division in Dakar, Senegal, the celebrated African head of the global financial institution is expected to meet with the Vice-President Dr. Isatou Njie-Saidy and key cabinet members.

    Habib Fetini, World Bank Country Director for The Gambia said: “This visit is an opportunity to deepen the World Bank's good relationship and dialogue with The Gambia's leadership, while emphasizing our support for improving private sector development and rural development as well as education and public sector management”.

    As part of activities marking her visit, Okonjo-Iweala will visit the Business Park established with support of the IDA-funded Gateway Project Business as well as the Gambia Groundnut Company. She is also expected to address a press conference as part of her itinerary.
