The use of the phrase Female Circumcision/ Genital Surgery/ Incision or Alteration is the beginning of a better dialogue than using Female Genital Mutilation. The term "Mutilation" has rather criminal inflections. The effort to get its practitioners to abandon this practice will not be assisted by the language of persecution. Men are often more ignorant than the women of the pros and cons of the practice. Men should always be a target group for any address of the situation.
I am interested to know if there is any way AfricaNews Contributors could band together to weigh up these pros and cons.
