The company founding members told the media over the weekend that their service includes non-stop service en route long distant roads. The new company also plans to give transport service based on a fixed-time departure and arrival schedules at major spot areas in Addis Ababa.

Currently, the company is in negotiations with three European companies to buy the buses and plans to run public, school and freight services. The chairman of Alliance transport, Adil Abdella, said the company is hoping to collect 150 million birr within six months in order to bring over the first batch of 100-120 single and double-decker vehicles.

The transport company has a plan to construct parking areas and bus stop throughout the city for the vehicles that will accommodate almost 100 passengers. The buses should have GPS online tracking systems to ensure the service runs on time.

The company was founded by 12 shareholders with experience in various fields, including marketing, engineering, technology, commercial administration, and industrial work. Well-known Ethiopian artist and philanthropist, Chachi Taddesse, is one of the founding members of the firm.

"We established this transport company to bring other countries' experience of transport services to Ethiopia. This is one way of contributing to society: to offer safer, quality and reasonably priced bus services to the public," Chachi said.

Prior to commencing operation, the company will build its own bus stations which will be equipped with electronic gadgets that, among others, indicate the arrival and departure times of buses at the station.

The company has already reached an agreement with the pertinent government organs including the Transport Authority Addis Ababa to Branch Office to put in place the necessary infrastructure that will allow the company to provide a modern city transport service in the city.
