Welcome to the jungle that is called Zimbabwe. A civil war is about to break out, we can all feel it. After years Mugabe has now officially lost the plot and opposition is losing patience. Mugabe"s sympathy for the devil may be apparent to us; but possibly only becomes clear to him when he"s finally knockin" on heavens door to face his verdict.
Pictures of Nelson Chamisa, spokesperson for the Zimbabwean Movement for Democratic Change (MDC), with his head covered in blood after being beaten up with iron bars, cover the TV screen. He was on his way to a meeting in Belgium when a group of men attacked him at the Airport. It was the
second time he got assaulted by Mugabe"s buddies from the Security Force and he"s now in hospital in a critical condition.
It"s another heavy blow for the opposition. Just a couple of days earlier Chamisa, the party"s leader Morgan Tsvangirai, and more then 40 other innocent people got heavily assaulted
at a prayer meeting in Harare.
And in this
past weekend injured activists were not allowed to board a medical air rescue service plane and the body of an opposition activist shot dead by police was kidnapped by the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) and secretly buried.
Despite this
Tsvangirai spoke some encouraging words in the BBC"s Sunday AM programme: "Things are really bad, but I think that this crisis has reached a tipping point, and we could see the beginning of the end of this dictatorship in whatever form".
The international community must step in now and end the crap before there are more food shortages, life expectancy (37 at the moment) decreases even faster, and 5.5 million Zimbabweans who live with HIV die before our eyes. Now where are you guys?
PS: Thanks to the Guns 'n Roses Greatest Hits CD for inspiring my lead and giving me the right words to play with.
