The ANC's deputy president Zuma denies he is campaigning to take over Mbeki"s rule. He is lying. What else explains what he did last week? The 2007 version of Zuma takes a public HIV/AIDS test, and visits
a white Afrikaner family that had fallen victim to crime.
Yes, all of that in just one weekend. What motivated him? Was he bored sitting at home in the weekends? I would say, and many high profile sources say the same, he is campaigning to become the ANC"s president at the end of the year.
The party meets in December to elect a new president. That gives Zuma a little less than ten months for a complete make-over. If his ten month 'campaign" works, we will not think of Zuma as the man who raped a HIV-positive woman, sings about machine guns, and protects himself from contracting the HI Virus by having a shower.
And we will certainly forget about all the corruption and fraud charges against him and his financial advisor.
At the end of the year Zuma"s new image is that of a man with emotional bonds over all racial lines. He knows what is happening on the ground and visits rural villages and Afrikaner funerals on a weekly basis. He will be our superman. <br />But why would he lie about campaigning?
Anyway, he will never be my hero. To me he is just an
uneducated man with a very sick and twisted mind (I don"t believe I have to give any examples). Mbeki is not any better though.
He refuses to take a public HIV test, doesn't believe there is an HIV pandemic, and discards crime as a serious problem. Now how can the ANC ever come to a decision? I hope other people join the race to become the ANC"s new leader.
I will seriously think of returning to Europe if the new president is any of the following (or a combination): a rapist, sexist, racist, violent, uneducated, HIV- and crime-denialist and/ or machine gun carrying corrupt (wo)man.
