    Beauty of Egypt

Pharaohnic monuments are scattered all over Egypt. For instance, in Giza, you will find the three Pyramids and Sphinx (the only wonder of the Seven Wonders of the World that is still surviving) and Saqqara Pyramids. In Cairo, there is the Egyptian Museum gathering monuments from different Pharaohnic ages (A new Big Egyptian Museum will be established in the next few years near the Pyramids). In Luxor "the City of Open Museums", you will find – among other things - the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens.

The main Greco-Roman monuments are found in Egypt's Second Capital Alexandria, established by the famous Greek Leader Alexander the Great. Coptic monuments and churches are also over Egypt. They mainly include the Coptic Museum and the Hanging Church located in older Cairo.

    Different eras

Islamic mosques and monuments are also all over Egypt covering the different eras of Muslim dynasties from the Fatimid to the Ayubid to the Mamluk and Ottoman eras. For instance, in Cairo, you will find the first mosque established in Egypt by the conqueror Amre Ibn Al Ass – there is also one of the main Islamic monuments on earth which is Al Azhar Mosque – this was established by the Fatimids when they first came to Egypt more than 1000 years ago. From the Ayubid era, you will find the Saladin Citadel established over the Muqattam Hills in Cairo. You will find also the Islamic Museum comprising monuments from different dynasties.
The Jewish monuments are mainly the Jewish Museum located in downtown and the Jewish Alley also located in older Cairo. This alley still comprises small shops that were owned or still owned by Egyptian Jews.

    Modern

As for the modern monuments, you will find different traces from the era of the Alawid Family that ruled Egypt from 1805 till 1952. There is the mosque established over the Muqattam Hills by the founder of this family – Muhammad Ali Pasha. There are also museums established by the family rulers which are currently used as presidential palaces such as Abdeen – Al Tahra and Qubba palaces in Cairo and Ras el Teen Palace in Alexandria. Other palaces established by family members that are now turned into museums such as the Agricultural Museum and the Museum of Royal Jewelry in Alexandria. Modern monuments also include the Bibliotheca Alexandrina – this is a revival of the old Alexandria Library that was ruined by a fire thousands of years ago.
Egypt is really the right to place to go if you want to learn about "The Other".
