DO WE DESERVE REMITTANCES FROM THE DIASPORA

    On a countless times, African leaders always count on money remitted by their citizens living abroad. Their economies largely depend on that hard earned money to the extent that when the United States of America economy collapsed, all of them nearly went to their knees.

    The concern here is to know why these people are living outside their respective motherlands first. The African Diaspora is mainly formed of oppressed patriots who fled tyranny in their midst back in Africa .

    It's a Herculean task, I believe, to identify a single African country that respects democracy prevalence. No matter what it's appellation spells. Hapamedia had run a survey throughout last month to find the reason why they had left their countries to live overseas. The exercise took place in Kenya , Uganda , Dubai , France , Rwanda , Germany , Belgium , United Kingdom , Canada and the United States of America .

    Data results of the survey are really shocking. Eighty six percent – 86% - of the interviewed confessed to have been forced to leave their countries under multiple circumstances. Some to look for green pastures but the majority left because strict dictatorship, war, impunity, ethnicity and lack of freedom of expression.

    Ironically, the same people who caused the departure of these loyal citizens are the ones now expecting their very hard earned money to boost their economies for the sake of maintaining their hold to power.

    It's said that a country's hospitality is judged by the way it treats its heroes. As it's known to us, heroes are not necessarily those branded as national but everyone who makes a sacrifice for his country. How do we treat our heroes? Do we really deserve their money?
