"Fire next time" creates stir
- Lusaka - Last weekend, the Lusaka Playhouse came alive with "Fire Next Time." This play evoked the audience to look at street kids in a different light. The play’s refreshing angle gave the kids on the street a human face as most of them have been found to be on the street because they have lost their parents either due to the HIV/AIDS pandemic, ill treatment by their parents or guardians and poverty. Listening to their jaunt at the Brown Frog on Saturday May 19, the band was at its element as they started off their set of contemporary songs and jazz copyrights, Zambian rock and Kalindula, the most noticeable however was the overflowing number of musicians who were on hand to give a true ode to this versatile band who have backed many a musician in the country and within the region. Lusaka – ASSITEJ Zambia is playing host to four of the 14 Southern Africa Development Countries (SADC) as they participate in the HIV/Aids workshop under the theme of “setting standards for our children’s theatre.” The workshop, which is being held at Cresta Golf View Hotel, preceded an opening ceremony at the hotel.
