Coach of Cameroon's national soccer team, Otto Pfister has resigned. He said his resignation comes after his assistant, Gweha Ikouam was sacked. Pfister has since handed his resignation letter to officials of Cameroon Football Federation. He has insisted that his decision to resign is irreversible.

It should be recalled that Gweha Ikoum was recently replaced with Michel Kaham and Jean Paul Akono after the Indomitable Lions suffered a series of dismal performances in the ongoing qualifiers for the African Nations Cup and World Cup.
Pfister told fifa.com that the decision to sack his assistant was taken without his consent or any consultation with him.
He praised Gweha Ikouam as the best assistant he has ever worked with.
Pfister’s resignation is coming in the wake of Cameroon's defeat in their opening game in the final round of World Cup qualifying when they went down to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Togo at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra, Ghana, last March 28.
He was a controversial appointment when he took over Cameroon, with several high-profile names and FECAFOOT itself unhappy with the move. It was forced through by Cameroon’s Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Augustin Thierry Edjoa.
Pfister had been at loggerhead with some football officials in the country for some time now. Prominent among those who wanted him out was African football legend, Roger Milla. A meeting to redress the situation not long ago had flopped when Milla and others walked out.
Cameroon however palys a crucial Africa/World Cup final qualifying round match with Morocco on June 7.
