Ghana finished the game with ten men after Ofosu Appiah was shown a second yellow card in stoppage time at the end of the match.
Zimbabwe's two first-half goals were contributed by Ovid Karuru and Phillip Marufu.
Democratic Republic of Congo scored twice in the second half to defeat Libya 2-0 in the other match with Dioko Kaluyituka striking from close range on 58 minutes and Bongeli Lofo converting a penalty soon after.
