Tanzania qualified for their first major tournament in 28 years with victory over Sudan in the second leg of their final qualifying round game in the CHAN competition. A 2-1 away win on Saturday in the competition where teams may field only locally-based players put Tanzania through 5-2 on aggregate.

Tanzania has been firing blanks since making it to the 1980 Africa Cup of Nations finals. Sudan fired their coach Mohammed Abdallah Mazda following what was their first home defeat since 2005.
Henry Joseph and Nurdin Bakari scored for Tanzania, with Sudan's goal coming from Khalid Hassan.
"I am very happy and proud, Tanzanian football is now going up," said Tanzania coach Marcio Maximo.
"After this result, I think a real chance has come to the players to develop their professional career and improve their lives."
