AfricaNews - Unidentified armed men attacked the locality of Bocaranga located at 500 km northwest of Bangui, early 13 September. Revealing the information, Lt Bangadekoy, press officer of the Defense Ministry said, “several unidentified armed men whose number was estimated at about 60 attacked the town of Bocaranga on 13 September.”

According to Lt Bangadekoy, insurgents looted three shops and took away seven private motorbikes.
The town of Bocaranga is said to have been currently liberated as regular troops based in the region intervened and drove back insurgents at about 17 km from the town center.
The exact tool of the fights is yet to be known but the one-sided press release by the Defense Ministry talked of “nine insurgents killed and only one FACA soldiers slightly injured.”
Observers of the national life believe that the aim of the said attack is to prevent the holding the World Food Day whose celebration is scheduled to take place in Bocaranga under the chairmanship of Gen Bozize and in presence of the several local and foreign dignitaries. Others believe insurgents wanted to supply themselves with foods and military equipments.
It should be pointed out that the northwest and northeast parts of the country are tormented by rebellions and armed banditries animated by people presumably known to be close to ousted President Ange Felix Patasse. The political dialogue under preparation in the country is meant to find sustainable solution to insecurity in these portions of the country.
