Buses, tractors assembly plant soon in Cameroon

    A bus a tractor assembly plant will soon be constructed in Cameroon.

    Senior officials of the China General Technology Group Holding Ltd and China Machinery Company in partnership with Cameroonian entrepreneurs made the announce recently.

    The Chinese made and assembled in Cameroon buses and tractors shall be assembled in a plant that shall be constructed Bamenda, capital of the North West Region.

    The Chinese delegation accompanied by their local partner, Zachariah Awanga, Chief Executive of the National Financial Credit Bank made the declaration during at audience with Cameroon’s Prime Minister and Head of Government, Philemon Yang.

    Speaking to the press after the audience, Zachariah Awanga said, “We met the Prime Minister to get the government’s support for the setting up of an assembly plant for buses and tractors in Bamenda. These buses will be used here in Cameroon and in future we intend to export them to neighbouring Nigeria and other countries in West and Central Africa”.

    Members of the China general technology holding were in the country to finalise modalities for the project to take off. The China-Cameroon delegation is scheduled to travel to the North-West Regional capital, Bamenda, to visit the site where the auto plant has been envisaged.

    The private investment to build the first-ever bus and tractor assembly plant in the African nation is expected to take off before the end of 2010.
