"Boko Haram members in government" – Pre.Jonathan

  1. For the first time ever, President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday publicly admitted that members of the Islamic sect, Boko Haram, have infiltrated his government.
According to him some of them belong to the executive, judiciary and legislative arms of government as well as the armed forces.

He also said that this situation has made it very difficult to face the nation's security challenges.

The President spoke during an inter-denominational service to mark the 2012 Armed Forces Remembrance Day at the Ecumenical Centre Abuja.

Jonathan also described the current security situation in the country as being worse than the civil war experience.

"This is a particular time when the country has major security challenges. There are explosions everyday, people are dying and are being killed daily without any reason”.

The President further identified greed and selfishness as what he termed the twin evil challenging the country, stating that corruption is only a symptom of the two.

He added that only greed and selfishness would make a marketer to smuggle petrol which has been subsidised by the government to neighbouring countries to resell.
