Attack against Alpha Condé’s house.


  1. Inhabitants of Kipé had been waken up by gun shots .it was an armed attack by the military against the private residence of Alpha Condé in Conakry last night. During this attack a member of the presidential guard was killed and two others injured.
    "A rocket was fired against the house, a part of which was blown by the explosion and the facade riddled with bullets" said an eyewitness.
    Shortly after the attack on Tuesday at midday, Alpha Condé made a statement.

    "My house was attacked last night, but I must commend the presidential guard who fought heroically from 3:10 a m 5:00 a m before the reinforcements arrival," said Alpha Condé.

    "I'm calling for calm, but (also) for vigilance and unity. I do not want a popular reaction, or reaction against anyone, let the army and police do their work, "he added.

    "It's not a coup," says a source close to the government in France, noting that "there was no attempt to take Control of roads or the airport. "

    "It is rather a warning or a warning shot, perhaps to criticize the slow pace of Condé in the election organization ," adds the same source.


    Military checkpoints are visible in the major intersections, roundabouts and crossroads in the capital, Conakry. In Bambeto for example, the security forces are conducting the search of weapons in vehicles.
    Trade is almost non-existent, traffic is slow. In the peninsula of Kaloum, administration, banks and other places of services are closed.

    Former Chief of armies, General Nouhou Thiam had been arrested on Tuesday morning by a group of men led by Captain ClaudePivi, minister in charge of the presidential security. General Nouhou Thiam had been to the office of judicial investigations of Matam Gendarmerie. As a recall, General Nouhou Thiam was a member of the CNDD (National Council for Democracy and Development) and was the Chief of General Staff of the armies under the transition led by General Sékouba Konaté.

    A group of armed men led by Claude Pivi, Moussa Thiegboro Camara and the Governor of Conakry Sekou Resco Camara are hunting assailants in the city.

    A gendarme and four soldiers who had arrested are being questioned by the judicial office of the gendarmerie.
