   This year's Kilimanjaro Marathon is expected to attract over 600 foreign runners from over 40 countries, organizers announced.

   

   John Addison, the Managing Director of Wild Frontiers, organisers of the event said in a statement that the race continues to attract more international runners due to organisers’ and Kilimanjaro Premium Lager’s joint promotion and marketing of the event.
   
   This has led to tremendous growth and it has increased participation. Addison said the United States would field the largest contingent, followed by Britain. Other countries which are expected to take part include Canada, Japan, Uganda, Zimbabwe and Kenya.
    
   Others include Sweden, Australia, Hungary, Germany, Zambia, Morocco, Swaziland, Nigeria and Malawi. Scheduled to take place in Moshi on March 3, the Kilimanjaro Marathon 2013, comprise four events which includes the 42km Kilimanjaro Premium Lager Marathon, 21km Half Marathon, GAPCO Half Marathon – a category for people with physical disability and the Vodacom 5km Fun Run.
   
   The event is once more expected to be a thriller due to participation of corporate teams which will compete in the Half Marathon Corporate Challenge. The companies set to vie for the corporate challenge title include TPC Sugar who won the title last year, followed by CFAO Motors, TanzaniteOne and Tanga Cement.
   
   The Kilimanjaro Marathon (42.2km), Half Marathon (21.1km) and Fun Run (5km) is going into its 11th year. As a fully registered IAAF race, the marathon has official marshalling, time-keeping and refreshment points at regular intervals. The race may be used as a qualifier for Comrades Marathon and other international athletics competitions.
   
   The event is sponsored by Kilimanjaro Premium Lager (title sponsors), Vodacom Tanzania (5km Fun Run), GAPCO (Disabled Half Marathon), Tanga Cement, CFAO Motors, KK Security, Keys Hotel, TPC Sugar, TanzaniteOne, New Arusha Hotel and Kilimanjaro Water.
