Angola lose to China in Olympic Games

    African basketball champion Angola continues to disappoint in the ongoing Olympic Games in Beijing. The Southern African side lost to the host China 68-85 in a scintillating game which saw China winning for the first time in the men's event. Angola has won no game so far.

    The host’s best player 7ft 6 in Houston Rockets centre Yao Ming scored 30 points in his side's victory over Angola as he dominated under the basket and took advantage of sloppy play by the African champions to score on turnovers.

    However Angola’s Joaquim Gome scored 17 points whereas China’s Sun Yue, who has joined the Los Angeles Lakers, added 11 points.

    A BBC report Thursday said China, Germany and Greece each have one victory and lead the fight for the last two quarter-final berths from Group B.

    In another game played on Thursday United States thrashed Greece 92-69.
    US’s talented player Kobe Bryant and Chris Bosh each scored 18 points, with Dwayne Wade and LeBron James posting 17 and 13 respectively.

    According to the BBC report China will next meet Germany on Saturday before entertaining Greece on Monday.

    The African champions have a chance to salvage some pride when they meet wounded Greece.
