Algeria FA: There is no animosity

    Algerian Football Federation President Mohamed Raouraoua has said he is not concerned about reports of potential violence between his side and Egypt in today's highly anticipated African Cup of Nations semi-final match in Benguela, Angola. He said on the field there is no animosity between the two.

    “We come into this match with a lot of serenity. We’ve prepared for it calmly like all other matches. There’s no place for animosity because we’re in an important competition. Over the last three matches against Egypt there weren’t problems on the field or in the halls of the stadiums,” he told the APS.
    “The problems were outside and the animosity was provoked by certain Egyptian officials who said some regrettable things.”

    Meanwhile, Raouaraoua believes that the Algerian players have it within them to beat Egypt and then lift the continental title, according to a Goal.com report.

    “This team has its capacities, it’s proved it. It’s become more cohesive and better technically. We’re a side that is starting to play well with the ball. We have a reference, our match against Cote d’Ivoire. Our side showed the face of Algerian football: vivacious, very collective, with short passes, and offensive. Even though we didn’t have much time to prepare.”
