After Airtel Malawi wraped off giving out the ten Toyota Hilux cars to
winners in the Lololo promotion, some of them have already tasted the
wind of change in their day-to-day lives.
A 35 year old Amadu Adam of Kachere Trading center in Kasungu, almost
150 kilometers from the capital city, the vehicle he won has already
opened up the communities to some parts in the district.
“As I said when I was receiving the vehicle the communities had very
little means to sell and buy things from town due to transport but now
I am happy to tell you that the problem has been minimised,” said
Adam, a shop owner for the notable Press Trust
Estate.
He added, “Due to that fact that we are in the remote community and
with poor roads, people used to walk a very long distance to the main
road to go to town. The car has really helped the community in that
capacity.”
Enchoeing Adam, Beatrice Mwambene, a Tomato seller at Kasoba market in
Karonga said the car has boosted her business entity as it is used to
felly people’s goods from the town to remote areas.
“I am now having a larger quantity of income as opposed to what was
happening before. I am no longer the same woman people around hear
used to know. I am now a boss on my own,” she said in an interview,”
said Mwambene.
