Africa's Sucession Plan

  1. African Business Leaders in Ghana blaze the trail for an effective continental succession plan.

We are all beginning to think sustainably for our organisations, businesses and governments. Asking ourselves, “who takes over the mantle of leadership, can our vision outlive us, are our successors capable and credible, will our interests be protected?” These were the sincere musings of African business leaders at the just concluded African Business Leaders Forum (ABLF), Ghana 2007, organized by the Business in Africa magazine.

The key objectives of the event were to create an engagement platform to discuss African issues, enhance knowledge and generate ideas; no doubt a unique opportunity to develop an African solution to an African problem.

It was evident from the deliberations at the plenary and breakaway session that present leaders are keen on righting their wrongs to make for a better future.

The presence of 101 Young African Leaders at this 5th ABLF session marks the beginning of an effective succession plan for Africa.

The event presented a platform for networking across the major business sectors on the continent. The young leaders were allowed to participate in all session of the forum unfettered.

As I networked my way through the three day forum, It dawned on me that Africans have a genuine need to break through the geographical, political and intellectual boundaries towards a more unified and advanced Africa which holds the key to a stronger continent at the global market place.

The ensuing consensus from the forum would be published as a follow up to this.
