Africa Business Plan Competition
- Posted on Wednesday 22 August 2007 - 15:57The Sukuma Afrika competition for Young Entrepreneurs recognizes outstanding commercial initiatives and projects that support attain the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) in Africa. Entries act a means of inspiration for entrepreneurs in and outside the continent and as opportunities for Sukuma Africa’s network of investors to support and fund the most impactful business plans. The winner in each of the 7 categories will win business support from a management consultancy firm, introductions to interested investors and support to implement their business plan. The Awards ceremony will take place in February 2008 at a special music festival to be held in South Africa. The ceremony will form part of the Sukuma Afrika’s association with MTV Africa, nominees will be profiled as part of the music festival. Categories reward best business initiative in support of:
1. Eradicating extreme poverty and hunger
2. Achieving universal primary education
3. Promoting gender equality and empower women
4. Reducing child mortality
5. Improving maternal health, Combating HIV/AIDS, malaria, and other diseases
6. Ensuring environmental sustainability
7. Develop a global partnership for development
HOW TO ENTER: The competition is open to sustainable ventures only and to contenders aged 40 or below. To enter candidates are requested to submit their business plan and summarize in no more than 500 words how their plan contributes to the MDG in question. Existing and new ventures are eligible.
