Mohamed Aboutrika scored twice as Egypt beat Rwanda 3-0 to register a first win in their African zone final round World Cup qualifying group on Sunday. The win takes them up to second in Group C with four points, three behind leaders Algeria after three games. Zambia has four points with Rwanda bottom on one.

The Pharaohs had to battle to break down the visiting defence with Aboutrika opening the scoring only in the 65th minute before Hosni Abd Rabou added a penalty 11 minutes later, according to Reuters.

Aboutrika's second goal came three minutes into stoppage time at the end of the match, which had been postponed from last month because of the North African country's participation in the Confederations Cup in South Africa.

Only the five group winners in the third and final round of African zone qualifiers go to the 2010 finals in South Africa.
