A man kills his wife and commits suicide!

    In Guinea forced marriages are still continuing in Muslim ethnic groups despite the campaign of protecting the rights of women. It is a disappointing exploit that young girls are still facing. Parents instead of letting their daughters make their own choice, impose on them. Most of the time, girls are compelled to give up their studies because their husbands do not want to.
    In Macenta, a prefecture 800 km away from Conakry, the population woke up with terrifying news. Two bodies were found dead.

    Ismael Diallo, 35, a café keeper got married with Adama Diallo, 17, a student in 10th grade in TP secondary school. Their marriage has been sealed by the girl’s parents without her consent because she wished to continue her studies.
    On Monday night, Ismael Diallo took a gun and killed his wife before returning the weapon against him. In the morning residents were surprised to find the two dead bodies.

    Investigations are ongoing to determine the motive for this irresponsible act. Some members of the family circle believe that it is the refusal of the bride to accept the married life that motivated her husband to commit the crimes.

    The problem of compulsory marriage arises again. Regardless of awareness campaigns, young girls are subjected to many forms of violence including the recurring phenomenon of forced marriage.
