4 American Indian student scholarships


  1. Between October and November, the US celebrates its rich heritage. Races, communities, minorities and special interest groups celebrate their individuality and traditional heritage. During these celebrations and periods in a bid to promote emancipation, many scholarships to special interest groups emerge.

    American Indians have a rich history in the USA. They in fact, create a huge part of the US traditional heritage and history. There are different scholarship programs that are fully dedicated to the American Indians. The span eligible Indians are those in Native America, Alaska Native, and Hawaii Native.

    These scholarships are varied and mainly operated and given through the American Indian College Fund. When one applies on these scholarships, they get the opportunity to be placed on those they are most eligible.

    There are a number of requirements for those who want to apply for these scholarships. Top of the list of requirement is ancestry to the Native American Indians. For this, the certificate of Indian Blood card will be required. You will also be required to sign affidavits coming from tribal officials, have birth records or the provide identification from the Native American Organization. If you’re eligible for these scholarships, here is a list of four you can start with.

    1. Ford Motor Company Tribal Scholarship
    This scholarship is awarded via the American Indian college Fund. It is worth is up to $5000 yearly. It’s awarded on the basis of need. Its scope is students who want to study math, engineering, teaching, environmental science and business for 2 or 4 year programs.

    2. Minnesota Indian Scholarship fund
    As the name suggests, this scholarship is for Native American Indians in Minnesota. This scholarship award ranges between $4000 and $6000 yearly, for undergraduate students. The best part about this scholarship is the fact that it can be awarded for up to a period of five years. It also extends to graduate level.

    3. Minority Teachers of Illinois Scholarship Program
    This scholarship program is for minority Native Americans from Illinois who want to study education or be research paper writer. It’s open to students who want to further their studies to become preschool, elementary and secondary school teachers. Its award is up to $5000, per year.

    4. American Indian Science and Engineering Society
    This is a AISES Google Scholarship. It extends to native Indians who want to study computer science, computer engineering, or computer programming. One also needs to maintain a GPA of 3 and above. It’s open to students who are sophomore or higher currently.
