We begin with Zimbabwe where the military has read out a statement on the country’s national broadcaster, ZBC, saying it is now in charge and has taken action to “target criminals”.

Read out by the country’s Chief of Staff Constantino Chiwenga, the statement adds that President Mugabe and his family were safe and their security was guaranteed.
Meanwhile at least four explosions are reported to have been heard in the capital, Harare.
The latest developments come amid an earlier warning from Chief of Staff Constantino Chiwenga suggesting the possibility of a military take over.
General Constantino Chiwenga had challenged President Robert Mugabe after he sacked the vice-president Emmerson Mnangagwa last week, amid a row over succession.
