Chad calls on US to reverse travel ban [The Morning Call]

Chad where the government has called on the US to reverse its decision to include the country on its travel ban list.

Chadian Foreign Minister Madeleine Alingué said the decision undermined the image of Chad and good relations between the two countries;

adding that Chad was a partner in the fight against terrorism. She warned the ban would ruin its bilateral relationship with the US.

Citizens of Chad are now banned from gaining business and tourist visas for the US.

According to the White House, the inclusion of Chad is hinged on the failure of Ndjamena to share terrorism-related and other crucial information the U.S. required.

Chad’s inclusion however is generating consternation not only in Chad but also in the US where the addition is said to have both befuddled and frustrated

a host of administration officials who deal with Africa. Embassy officials said they were still trying to figure out why Chad was on the list.
